Behemoth's Nergal: "I'm ready to Fist Fight against Haters"

Nergal, the frontman and vocalist of the blackened death metal band Behemoth, is an interesting figure to say the least. Polarising may be a better word.

In an interview with Morsay Magazine about the recent release of "Opvs Contra Natvram", Nergal let the actions speak for themselves in describing his "fight" against "the establishment".

Strange choice of words for someone who was often accused of "selling out" by playing commercial deathcore, but interesting perspective nonetheless. Wait, I better shut up if I don't want Nergal to beat me up.

Nergal Interviewed About Critics and Haters

While Behemoth as often been accused of being close to NSBM due to their proximity, and Nergal's friendship, while Rob Darken of Graveland - in addition to cosplaying as a SS officer during a concert in Vienna - Nergal maintains that while the band is not political, he is ready to "fight" any hater he sees.

I really tried to make the whole as large as possible. I don't want [Behemoth] to be only an anti-religion band. Behemoth is anti-establishment. [...] It's a movement about freedom. So, yes, when you look at stuff like LGBTQ, cancel culture, all these things - when I speak about them, I start shaking because I get so mad. I'm ready to fist fight against haters, against those people who want to impose their ideas on my rights [sic].

This interview, about the release of the album "Opvs Contra Natvram", comes at a time where metal musicians throughout the globe - Marduk, Taake, Satyricon, Peste Noire, Darkthrone - are increasingly targeted for their political opinions (or lack thereof).

Nergal, at any rate, makes his stance clear on the subject: he is not joking around.
