Gorgoroth Guitarist Infernus Injured in Alleged "Politically Motivated" Attack

Gorgoroth guitarist Infernus has reportedly been the victim of a violent assault in Bergen, Norway, in what he describes as a politically motivated attack. While specifics of the incident remain unclear, the black metal musician initially stated that he was attacked by "some fat little insignificant" individual after Gorgoroth's performance at the Beyond The Gates festival, held from August 2nd to August 5th.

However, Infernus later revised his account, clarifying that the assault took place on a different day and was unrelated to the festival. He also suggested that these attacks are not an isolated occurrence, but rather part of an ongoing issue he faces due to the controversial political themes woven into Gorgoroth's music.

The assault left Infernus seriously injured, requiring hospitalization and surgery. As a result of his recovery, Gorgoroth has been forced to cancel their upcoming South American tour, citing the lack of a suitable replacement for their longtime guitarist.

The full statement, written by Infernus, was shared on the band’s official Facebook page.

Later in the day, Infernus commented on the post claiming he was "constantly harassed" by the media, perhaps in hopes to clear up any confusion, but may have ended up doing the opposite.
