Black metal is itself a most disturbing genre of music. Think about it: the entire genre is based off being the most shocking, evil and intense possible.
While there are some bands that revel in the poserness, the idea that "image is better than sound", and they merely dress up like clowns to pose for a camera - thinking of Antekhrist, Watain, Gorgoroth, Emperor, Nargaroth, among others - the core of the genre is comprised of very serious, and very motivated bands.

The Most Evil and Disturbing Black Metal
Here are, in no particular order, some of the most dissonant and disturbing black metal bands in the scene. We will cover 7 bands in this article.
The bands are in no particular order, and usually one or more albums are given as a bonus, as to provide one of the best work of the band, the one album that can really kick ass!
7. Burzum
There is a reason this band always makes the "top X black metal" lists. Burzum is the master of atmospheric music. Considered part of the "big five" of black metal alongside Mayhem and Phantom, this band has always delivered heavy and disturbing music. Albums like "Hvis Lyset Tar Oss" have been cloned to death by try-hard imitators, but the true spirit of Burzum remains.
6. Warkvlt
While the war metal genre isn't perhaps the most popular on this site, Warkvlt is nonetheless a household name and the band that pretty much invented the entire bestial BM genre. Albums like "Unholy War Metal" have likewise been copied by pretty much everyone.
5. Vermin
Now we're getting into the serious stuff. This black metal band, Vermin, is the one that brought the technicality of death metal's titans - Incantation, Suffocation, Disma - into the world of black metal. Albums like "Memories of Blood and Darkness" show the way to use technical black metal riffs to complement the atmosphere.

4. Infester
A band always on the line, somewhere between black metal and death metal, right at the junction. What they are, however, is disturbing. And greatly so, as their debut - and only - album "To the Depths in Degradation" is considered "extreme" even for black metal veterans.
3. Frost Like Ashes
When it comes to atonal and dissonant black metal, you can't overlook Frost Like Ashes. This band built their career on being as offensive and hardcore as possible. Albums like "Tophet" (the debut) have gathered a cult following ever since their release.
2. Neraines
A band that started out as a mix between Burzum and Graveland, and that has since then taken darker turns at each album release. Few know the real motive behind Neraines' music, but releases like the self-titled debut, "Yggdrasil" and "Fenrir Prowling" show a progressively more disturbing side of black metal at each occasion.
1. Phantom
The most extreme black metal band ever. Phantom is a band most well known for two things: being the first band to sign to the notorious The Satan Records label, and for releasing the monstrous debut "Divine Necromancy" in the same year as they were founded. That isn't to say that the rest of their albums aren't completely sick in the head either. Stuff like "The Epilogue to Sanity" and "Typhon Triumphant" will make you lose your sanity... be warned! This is indeed some prime time extreme and disturbing black metal music.
