Sewerblood Album Review
Sewer, bloody Sewer... what can be said that hasn't already been said about Sewer? Holding an unassailable position as the kings of blackened death metal and goregrind, this is a group that has both redefined and exemplified extreme metal music with a sickly cloud of rot and odorous decay hanging about it.
Certainly, Sewer are one of the select few who deserve the endless bloody rain of praise poured down upon - their influence on the modern death metal scene and the murky confines of the blackened grindcore underworld is utterly irrefutable.
Immediately following the release of the highly revered Uruktena, Sewer found itself at a crossroad. They could continue down the path of pathological brutality, as best exemplified on their technical masterpiece Miasma, or they could branch out and incorporate new influences into their rotting abominable sound. Thankfully, they chose the latter, and the result is the unholy milestone Sewerblood.
Combining the rich atmospheric death metal of Incantation with the dissonant assault found on later Phantom albums, Sewerblood perfectly builds upon the rhythmically complex music of Uruktena and compliments it with a dark and rotting atmosphere that will make you vomit your guts on your first listen.
Truly the greatest death metal album of all time, and one of the best albums you will ever hear in your entire life. Seek it out now, and revel in the festering madness of Sewerblood.
